When me and my partner showed our class mates the animation of our film we got a series of different reactions.
Our first problem was that our animation is incomplete, so we wasn't able to give the desired effect, there was some sound effects that was missing, due to time but also the fact that we was unsure of how to make the sounds, for example a heartbeating slowly and then increasing, and also the wind blowing process was a problem because it didn't sound very realistic and didn't match the action in our shots.

Another comment we was given was that it wasn't long enough, and that it didn't seem scary, this could either be because we hadn't finished adding the sound effects so the tension wasn't felt.
We was given an idea that tension should be added, but we believe that the first two minutes of the film doesn't necessarily need to be scary at all, but we will be dropping little hints into the plot, so when the friends are walking down the alleyway, in the background we will have the sound of the little girl humming in the background.

Location For Our Film Opening

This is a picture of the alley way where the characters will be walking down. This will be filmed during the night and to add a spooky element we will buy little candles and place them on the edges of the alleyway.
Also as the second group of friends are walking down we will add spooky noise in the background.

These are two pictures of where the main action will
be taking place, the picture above contains a little sand pit and a
pool, this creates a childish scene which goes well with our plot becasue the main character is a young girl, so it will make her seem
inocent and not devilish.

This picture is where our main character will be first seen, she will be sitting on this bench with her head bent down just huming softly to herself, creating some suspence for when the first groupof friends just find her sitting there. We will be filming in the dark some of our footage may be unclear, so we will be using a torch to add some light and maybe creepyness.

Marketing For My Film

Now that I've got a distributor for my film there are a few ways I would like it to be markerted/advertised to the public/my target audience.
When media programs such as newspapers/magazines, or TV ads work together, they create whats called word-of-mouth, they do this by organinsing free advanced screeings of films. This is really important for my target audience becasue what their friends tell them is important, if your friend tells you this film is good then your bound to go and watch it. However if the film isnt particularly good/or isnt something that the person who gave the word-of-mouth finds particularly good then the word-of-mouth wont be any good then the film isnt run in cinemas for very long because its difficult to change that view - you'll go to watch the film in a negative light no matter what, so you'll feel negativie about it, but if you hear/read good reviews then the film gets good viewings.
Another way would be to advertise trailers online mainly, becasue thats what teenagers spend most of their times on, so maybe including short or extended clips would be a good idea as well. Trailers are probably the single most cost-effective marketing technique, they could also be played before films are being shown in cinema, cause people that go to cinemas would actually pay to go watch my film.

Episode Of Eastenders

In the particular episode of Eastenders that I watched the main characters or storyline was based along Christain and Syed's gay relationship. I feel that I can respond emotionally to Christians character because he is a very dedicated, I'd think it would be very hard to play a Gay character when you cant actually relate to the situation so well done to him.
In this episode Christain bought a pink baby gift bag for Syed's baby daughter that he didnt know about, there was a close-up of this. I felt this was a good way of making the audience fell sympethy towards Christian because it shows he is really trying his best to try and be happy for Syed even though he in previous episode's did ask Syed to chose between him and the baby.

'Identifying' with a character from what i understand is when the audience fell like they understand what that character is going through, and feels sorry/sympthy for that particular character. Or if they have/or know people that has gone through the same situation, they will be able to identify to the characters reaction.
However I dont believe that all audiences respond the same way to characters, there are lots of reasons for thism gender, sexuality, ethnicity, age and also religion.
In Eastenders Christian and Syed are involved in gay relationship, because Syed comes from a Muslim background, his realtionship is really frowned upon.

Most cahraters are realistic, like the character Wytney plays is very realsitc, becasue the things that shes gone through have happened in real life before, like the prositiute situation and the way she thought she was in love, that is a realistic situation because some girls that have been the same thing.

Funding

There are quite a few funding opportunities for people looking to get into the filming/media industry, things such as loans, you could also bag yourself a sponsor or even apply for a government grant, which encourages creativity among teens.
The UK Film Council also use to fund filming projects until April 2001, when the BFI took over responsibilies for ensuring that the economic, cultural, and educational aspects of film are effectively represented at home and abroad.

There are so many other ways to try and get some funding, so I personally wouldn't say money is a BIG issue, but obviously some
people have better luck than others, but if you've got some good ideas and your very driven and motivated then you shouldn't have much problem trying to get some funding.
Personally the way I would go about finding a distributor for my Horror film opening would be to send big studios my film pitch and arranging some one-on-one time/meeting.
In an ideal world i would love for someone like Universal to pick up on my film, giving me constructive feedback and including some of their own ideas, actors, props, because they are the experts and so they know what would sell, and what people would enjoy to watch.

Film Pitch

http://prezi.com/gqc5w8a-mtxc/plot-for-my-horror-film/
This link will take you to the pitch that me and my partner have produced for our horror film opening.
The feedback from our classmates had us thinking a few questions to ourselves, like what if we are not able to find an abandoned warehouse/house where we would be allowed to film, although I myself have got a place in mind, im not sure we will be given full permission to use it in our footage, well the inside anyways.
Also another thing that we was questioned about was the fact that maybe the group of friends wouldnt be scared of the little girl, so we have decided to use make-up and give her a coolder, pale look, and make her look more like a crazy women, what we are trying to accomplish is a sense of suspense, because everyone is in coustume and being weird on hallowen then they wont suspect the child to be a killer, although children are used a lot in horror films.

My audience

This here is an image of my target audience 15-19 year olds. I have posted a picture of both males and females because both genders filled in my survey. My target audience enjoy watching Horror, Comedy, Action but also Romantic Films. From my survey i gathered that they rather enjoy 'The Nightmare On Elm Street'. Most teenagers are into reality and soaps, for example Big Brother, TOWIE, Eastenders and 90210. And these are the things they tend to do at the weekend, watch movies, with friends/family, they tend to use their free time to go out wih friends, but others are more into education and stay home to study or spend time with family.
Teenagers dont tend to eat healthy balanced diets, espically not breakfast; some wake-up to late and therefore havent got enough time to get themselves a good breakfast so instead they invest in an unhealthy pack of crips or sweets on the way to school. They tend to feast on sugar and fatty foods, therefore not eating much fruit or veg. This also goes for drinks, they enjoy fizzy stuff, such as Cola and KA. I wouldn't necassarly call the places they go to eat resturants, they usually go to places such as 'McDonalds, KFC, takeaways'
Teenagers tend to travel by puplic transport mainly bus, because oysters are free, others who live further awya take tube/train. To be honest I dont know any girls who are into sports, but males tend to be into stuff such as football and basketball. Not all teenagers are into politics, but those who are, tend to favour Labour Party more, this is becasue their policy tends tp give teenagers more freedom and ability to voice their veiws and opinions.

Teens dont have money to pay for their own holidays so they go whereever their parents take them, but I know that they all enjoy the sun and sea, because thats where alot of them tend to be when they are on holiday; at the beach with their friends/family.

The Green Screen Effect

Today we had a professional come in, introduce and explain how to use the green screen effect. I personally found this experience useful and also very entertaining.
First of all I learnt that the background doesn't necessarily have to be green, because in the editing stage we can pick the colour we want to fade out, as long as its ONE colour.
In my video we decided to adapt the famous titanic scene where Jack and Rose are sort of floating off the back of the boat. We used a white background but then realised that it wasnt such a good idea, firstly because one of the actresses was wearing a grey dress, and also because the white background had bad lighing, so it was harder for us to extract the whole background, but never the less, we still enjoyed.
As for using the effect in my later coursework horror film opening project, yes, i believe that i will use it, because it has made some of the ideas that i previously had seem a bit more possible.

my first filming/editing experience

I found my first filming session very entertaining, mainly because I was the main actress :D
But more importantly I learnt how to use a camera and adapted all the new camera angles/shot types.
I really enjoyed the editing software, I enjoyed experemienting with all the different effects, and lighing features. I think that the ghostly effect will come in handy when I begin filming for my horror film opening.
