Funding

There are quite a few funding opportunities for people looking to get into the filming/media industry, things such as loans, you could also bag yourself a sponsor or even apply for a government grant, which encourages creativity among teens.
The UK Film Council also use to fund filming projects until April 2001, when the BFI took over responsibilies for ensuring that the economic, cultural, and educational aspects of film are effectively represented at home and abroad.

There are so many other ways to try and get some funding, so I personally wouldn't say money is a BIG issue, but obviously some
people have better luck than others, but if you've got some good ideas and your very driven and motivated then you shouldn't have much problem trying to get some funding.
Personally the way I would go about finding a distributor for my Horror film opening would be to send big studios my film pitch and arranging some one-on-one time/meeting.
In an ideal world i would love for someone like Universal to pick up on my film, giving me constructive feedback and including some of their own ideas, actors, props, because they are the experts and so they know what would sell, and what people would enjoy to watch.
