Marketing For My Film
Now that I've got a distributor for my film there are a few ways I would like it to be markerted/advertised to the public/my target audience. When media programs such as newspapers/magazines, or TV ads work together, they create whats called word-of-mouth, they do this by organinsing free advanced screeings of films. This is really important for my target audience becasue what their friends tell them is important, if your friend tells you this film is good then your bound to go and watch it. However if the film isnt particularly good/or isnt something that the person who gave the word-of-mouth finds particularly good then the word-of-mouth wont be any good then the film isnt run in cinemas for very long because its difficult to change that view - you'll go to watch the film in a negative light no matter what, so you'll feel negativie about it, but if you hear/read good reviews then the film gets good viewings.
Another way would be to advertise trailers online mainly, becasue thats what teenagers spend most of their times on, so maybe including short or extended clips would be a good idea as well. Trailers are probably the single most cost-effective marketing technique, they could also be played before films are being shown in cinema, cause people that go to cinemas would actually pay to go watch my film.
Episode Of Eastenders
In the particular episode of Eastenders that I watched the main characters or storyline was based along Christain and Syed's gay relationship. I feel that I can respond emotionally to Christians character because he is a very dedicated, I'd think it would be very hard to play a Gay character when you cant actually relate to the situation so well done to him.
In this episode Christain bought a pink baby gift bag for Syed's baby daughter that he didnt know about, there was a close-up of this. I felt this was a good way of making the audience fell sympethy towards Christian because it shows he is really trying his best to try and be happy for Syed even though he in previous episode's did ask Syed to chose between him and the baby.
'Identifying' with a character from what i understand is when the audience fell like they understand what that character is going through, and feels sorry/sympthy for that particular character. Or if they have/or know people that has gone through the same situation, they will be able to identify to the characters reaction.
However I dont believe that all audiences respond the same way to characters, there are lots of reasons for thism gender, sexuality, ethnicity, age and also religion.
In Eastenders Christian and Syed are involved in gay relationship, because Syed comes from a Muslim background, his realtionship is really frowned upon.
Most cahraters are realistic, like the character Wytney plays is very realsitc, becasue the things that shes gone through have happened in real life before, like the prositiute situation and the way she thought she was in love, that is a realistic situation because some girls that have been the same thing.
